Location - Dublin

On the eastern seaboard, Dublin is the capital of Ireland and the largest city with a population of over one million. Founded as a Viking settlement in the 10th century, Dublin today is well known for its public gardens and parks, for its Georgian architecture, for its theatres, lively music sessions and, above all, for its rich cultural and social life.

The University

Dublin City University was originally founded in 1975 as the National Institute for Higher Education, and four-years-later, took over the present campus and grounds in the northern suburbs of Dublin. The campus had previously been part of University College, Dublin. Dublin City University was granted independent university status in 1989 and presently has more than 8,000 registered students studying in the:

  • Dublin City University Business School
  • Joint Faculty of Humanities
  • Faculty of Computing and Mathematical Sciences
  • School of Education Studies
  • Faculty of Engineering and Design
  • Fiontar
  • Faculty of Science and Paramedical Studies
