David Gobaud -- Technology and the Law

By Conor Ryan

david gobaud

1L Patent Fellow Summer Associate at Perkins Coie LLP in Palo Alto, California, David works on patent litigation law suits for technology clients in Silicon Valley and beyond.  His work involves legal research, writing memos, and summarizing key outcomes from important cases for the patent litigation team at Perkins Coie.  With an undergraduate degree in Computer Science from Stanford and the experience he gained founding a technology start-up and leading a software automation team at the Executive Office of the President and White House, David is well prepared for the complex legal issues that arise in the technology industry.

David is a 2012 Mitchell Scholar.  He received an LLM in Corporate Governance from Queen's University, Belfast.  David's dissertation examined self-driving vehicle product liability issues and used research he conducted at the Stanford Center for Internet and Society.  Studying in Ireland grew David's interest in law and policy and confirmed his desire to attend law school.

David attends Harvard Law School.  On completion of his law degree he plans to concentrate his legal practice on issues at the intersection of technology, engineering, and law.  Longer term he would like to be involved in policy design, perhaps at government level.
